Child of God

Life is filled with challenges
each and every day.
Frustrations get the best of me
if I don’t take time to pray.
But when I stop and talk to God
He heals my broken heart.
He holds me close and tells me
that we’ll never be apart.

For I am His and He is mine,
I am a child of God.
And He takes me as I am
torn and scared and flawed.
He will not turn His back on me
no matter what I face.
He’ll stay and heal my wounded heart
my pain He will erase.

Challenges face me all my days
sometimes I cannot cope.
Questions always fill my mind
and sometimes I lose hope.
But when I stop and really think
about how much God cares.
I know that I will be all right
despite my deep despair.

For I am His and He is mine
He never leaves my side.
When I’m weak He carries me
then in His arms I hide.
I know the hard time will still come
for sin makes my heart flawed.
But I will never lose my hope
for I’m a child of God.
